Yellowstone National Park. It was early in the morning; temperatures were in the teens. I didn’t want to move, and I’m pretty sure this herd didn’t either. They were huddled together as they had been all night to keep each other warm. I got out of my truck and walked over to photograph them. Everything was so quiet, there was little movement, and the world seemed at a standstill.

Suddenly, the giant bison began throwing his weight around. He wouldn’t leave the other bison alone. He repeatedly tried to push him over. Even bison can be bullies.

Tragically, Climate Change Has Put the Great American Bison at Risk

As I traveled to take bison photography, I learned more about this majestic animal. In the United States, Yellowstone National Park is the only place where bison are seen in large numbers – as captured in my black and white art prints for instance. CLIMATE CHANGE has drastically impacted their habitat and created hotter summers, higher rainfall, and also reduced snowfall. This directly impacts their food sources and also harms their development. We have compared black and white art photos from 1965 and also observed a significant reduction in size over the past 50 years. The fossil record also confirms its size reduction over the years.

What’s more, climate change often leads to wildfires – which is an even bigger threat for all wildlife. Keep reading to learn how purchasing my bison photography can help protect and also restore the bison.
