Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Early evening. I was on location and it started to drizzle. The light was so low that setting up my camera to achieve a sharp image was not possible. I decided to do blurs. When doing blurs, it was very important that I panned with the horse's pace to create lack of movement between the camera and the horse while maintaining to look at his eyes clearly.

I was not achieving what I was going for due to the rain drops blurring my vision to see his eye. Normally I would have given up and gone back to shooting sharp images. In this case, I didn’t have a choice. The light was very low and if I had to photograph sharp images, they would be super dark. I decided to create even more drastic blurs by changing my camera settings immensely. After the first attempt, I realized not only was I getting my blurs, I was also getting streaks of water flying which was creating a better effect than I had in mind. I was very happy with the result.

Trying something new will always result in a new outcome. It’s for us to give it a chance.
